Vintage Dance Week 2017

Waltz, polka, quadrilles, 19th century mazurka, Regency Era dances, Ragtime dances, early Russian tango, Jazz Age dances, historical blues, and more.
Three dance parties and two balls with LIVE MUSIC!!

Saturday, July 1st

Arrival in Prague, check-in

05:00             Registration in the hotel lobby

07:30             Dinner with the group

From 5:00-7:30 PM we will be registering our dance week participants in the hotel lobby, after which we will walk to a nearby restaurant for dinner together. If you arrive too late for dinner, you can register during the Sunday dance classes.

In the evening we are off to the alternative future of historical science fiction, dancing at the Jules Verne Steampunk Ball. Attire may range from proper 19th century elegance to adventurers, air pirates, fantasy and time travel. Or Google "steampunk attire" for more ideas.

Dinner with the group and Bal Blanc

In the evening we will enjoy a twilight dance in the French tradition of a Belle Epoque Bal Blanc. Attire is anything white, cream, ivory or very light pastels. If you happen to have vintage whites, we recommend turn-of-the-century, from late Victorian to Ragtime. Otherwise be assured that the air of informality will allow anything in a whiter shade.

06:00             Dinner with the group and Czech Dance Evening

For a complete change of pace, we will depart by coach for the ancient village of Dubeč. Here we will have dinner together, and spend an evening with Czech folk dancers in a historical 18th century dance hall. The polka and many of our favorite 19th century waltz variations evolved from early Bohemian folk dances, and tonight we will enjoy the original versions. Attire can be rustic or informal.

06:15             Dinner with the group and the Classic Jazz Ball

with live music

After our three morning classes you will have time to relax and prepare for the evening. We will then travel by coach to Břevnov, to get dressed for the Jazz Ball at the hotel. Dinner will be included in the evening activities. The ball program will be one-steps, tangos, waltzes, maxixe, foxtrots, swing and blues, led by Richard Powers. Attire can be Ragtime, Roaring Twenties or Swing Era, your choice.

We know that everyone wants a night off, either to relax or see Prague at nighttime, so after the morning and afternoon dance classes you'll have time for yourself. Here you can look for different kind of activities. It will give you an idea for your free time. You will receive more details when you arrive in Prague.

Grand Ball with live orchestra

After our last three dance classes of the week, you will be free to relax before our final evening. Then we finally arrive at the Grand Ball, the crowned jewel of the week. We will dance in a spectacular 19th century ballroom in the center of Prague, preceded with dinner. It will be a night to remember!

Saturday, July 8th
