Dvorana - Folk Dance Week 2019

August 15, Thursday

You will arrive in Prague sometime during the day. After you arrive at the hotel, you will check-in and relax. We will meet in the hotel lobby beginning at 6:00 pm for registration. At 7:30 pm we will walk to a nearby restaurant for the opening dinner.

August 16, Friday

After breakfast we will need to load the bus and depart for East Bohemia. On the way we will stop in Kutná Hora (UNESCO site) – a medieval town well-known for its silver mines. We will walk through the town, visit the local cathedral and have lunch together. Afterwards we will go directly to Hradec Králové. Here you will check-in and attend the festival opening. The hotel is within walking distance from the festival area, so feel free to make your own schedule. Dinner will be on your own as well.

August 17, Saturday

Sometime during the day we will go for couple hours to visit another festival in Červený Kostelec.

August 18, Sunday

In the morning you will attend the festival program and lunch will be on your own. Afternoon we will load the bus again and will go directly to Prague. After the check-in you will have some time to relax. At this time we will registering dance week participants who may want to skip the festival and wish to come only for the dance week. We will then have dinner all together.

August 19, Monday

Today, we start the dance workshop. There will be two classes in the morning. Some of you have been here already, and for others this will be the very first time. So after lunch we offer you a sightseeing tour of Prague. Afterwards you will have time on your own to relax and have dinner.

August 20, Tuesday

Today we will do some serious dancing. In the morning and in the afternoon as well. For the lunch time you will be on your own. In the evening you can eat and relax on a boat. The dinner cruise will allow you to enjoy the summer evening, nice views of Prague and a good meal.

August 21, Wednesday

After lunch the coach will be waiting to take us to South Bohemia. On the way we will stop at chateau Orlík nad Vltavou where we will have a tour inside. We shall continue to a small farm (not used for agricultural purposes anymore) welcoming happy visitors. We’ll learn how to make traditional Czech cookies, enjoy some simple Scottish and Czech dancing, have a traditional dinner. With the sunset we will depart for Prague.

August 22, Thursday

Another day full of dancing. In the evening you can relax in the hotel room, go to the city center, or join us for a visit to ancient Vyšehrad.

August 23, Friday

06:00 closing dance in the Emauzy monastery

Friday is our final day of dancing. There will be two dancing lessons in the morning, free time in the afternoon for relaxation and preparations for the festive night, which will take place in the Emauzy Monastery (founded in 1347). There, in the former refectory with original baroque frescos, we shall have our last dance. What a nice place for that final dance!

August 24, Saturday

Today‘s breakfast is included in the price of your hotel room, but shortly afterwards it will be necessary to leave your room. Should your travel plans be for a later departure in the day, arrange with the reception to keep your luggage in a safe place. In that case you may still manage a brief sortie into the city centre.

If you are ready for more program, join us for the Highland Games. Look for the extension.
