We will be available to answer any of your questions about the tour in the intervening time between when you register and September. A month prior to the start of the trip all participants will receive a letter with further details,
including the mobile phone number to call in case of unexpected incidents during your travel to Prague.
August 10 (1 night)
HOTEL Beránek – Praha***
This stay is optional – pre-tour. We have been using this hotel for our visitors for many years. In front of the hotel are both metro and tram stops, with easy connections to central Prague as well as the airport and outlying areas. All rooms are equipped with free WiFi, air-conditioning, TV, SAT, telephone, hairdryer, refrigerator, safe and bathroom.
August 17 – 18 (2 nights)
HOTEL Zlatá hvězda – Litomyšl****
This building, in the town’s main square, has acted as a hotel since the first half of the 16th century! But do not worry – it has been nicely renovated! All rooms have their own bathroom with a bath or a shower, a fridge, a TV with SAT, a phone, Wi-Fi or LAN coverage, and some have a safe deposit.

You are responsible for making your own travel arrangements to and from Prague or Krakow. This allows you maximum flexibility on individualizing your plans.
Because it may be more expensive to fly from US to Krakow and back from Prague, we are offering the option with extra nights in Prague before the tour. Then you can join us on our bus trip from Prague to Krakow. It is an approximately eight-hour drive between the cities, depending on traffic, road, and weather conditions. The round-trip airfare is usually cheaper and you can spend the money you save on extra nights in Prague. If you like this possibility, please let us know on the registration form.
For traveling outside of Prague we will use a comfortable and air-conditioned coach. During the stay in Prague, we shall use mostly public transportation. It is easy, clean, safe, and convenient. The tram and underground train stops are just few hundred yards from the hotel.
Breakfast and one hot meal a day are included in the tour price. You are responsible for the other meal of the day. Water is included with the hot meal, but you are asked to pay for any additional beverages.
We prefer traditional Czech cuisine, which features a variety of meats. However, vegetarian meals and other dietary restrictions can be accommodated, but we must know in advance what your requirements/limitations are (see the registration form).
If you decide to spend a few more days in Prague, either before or after the tour, we’ll be happy to help you with hotel booking. Please feel free to let us know.
You can expect changeable weather in Prague and Central Europe during fall. Temperatures shouldn’t drop below 10°C (50°F) and not rise up over 20°C (68°F). We can expect some showers.
Generally we will walk a lot, so we recommend comfortable walking shoes. Also you can bring a swim suit because we will have one hotel with swimming pool. During the tour we will also visit mountains. Make sure to bring some warmer clothing.
To help you prepare, and to answer some questions you may have, we recommend you watch these short and very useful videos. They are recorded by a Prague journalist who has excellent English, a good sense of humor, and who is trying to make your visit to Prague memorable, without any problems!
Of course, you can also enjoy his channel on YouTube and receive his videos directly.
